Temperatures in most cities of the state have dropped below 40 degrees due to heavy rains following Tau-te hurricane.
Temperatures remained moderate in many parts of the state in May due to Hurricane Tau-te.



The meteorological department has said that the monsoon will start in Gujarat after June 20. Pre-monsoon activity is also set to begin soon. As part of which, light to moderate rains have been forecast by the meteorological department in several districts of the state from June 4 to 6. Ahmedabad, including Saurashtra and South Gujarat, is also forecast to receive light rains.

The monsoon is likely to start from the third week of June.
According to the meteorological department, the state is currently experiencing south-westerly winds. Daman, Dadarnagar Haveli, Dahod, Anand, Bhavnagar, Amreli on 4th June, Daman, Dadarnagar Haveli, Ahmedabad, Anand, Kheda, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Gir Somnath, Botad, Kutch on 5th June. In addition to blowing at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour during the day, light to moderate rain is also possible. As per the current situation, monsoon is likely to start from the third week of June in Gujarat.

For the first time in a decade, the maximum temperature in Ahmedabad did not exceed 43 degrees in May. Temperatures were moderate in many parts of the state in May due to Hurricane Tau-te. On May 20, 2016, the temperature was recorded at 48 degrees Celsius. In the
last 10 years, the highest average maximum temperature in May has been observed. The heat in 2016 broke all records. On May 20, 2016, an all-time high temperature of 48 degrees was recorded. Apart from this, the highest average maximum temperature was 43.6 in 2017, 44.8 in 2018, 44.3 in 2019 and 44.1 in 2020.
