Corona strain found in the country for the first time will be called 'Delta', the WHO said - no country should be punished for reporting a new strain

New name of Indian variant:  Corona strain found in the country for the first time will be called 'Delta', the WHO said - no country should be punished for reporting a new strain

Corona's new strain was objected to by the so-called Indian government

The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced the use of Greek alphabets in Corona's new variant of Concern (VOC) Variant of Interest (VOI). On this basis, the first variant of the Coro found in India will be called Delta, while the earlier version will be called Kappa.

Dr. Maria Van Karkhov, WHO's Covid-19 Technical Head, said the level would not affect existing scientific names. Important scientific information is received from them and will continue to be used for research. No country should be punished for finding or providing information on Corona variants.

The government objected to the virus being called an Indian variant. The government objected to
Corona's new strain being called Indian. The statement from the World Health Organization (WHO) that the B.1.617 variant is a matter of concern to the world has been covered in several media reports. In some of their reports this variant was called Indian, but these reports are baseless. The government claims that nowhere in its 52-page document is the Indian linked to the B.1.617 variant.

The government's claim was also confirmed by the
WHO's WHO South-East Asia office, which said the virus or variant was not linked to the country's name. But only known by its scientific name and all must do so. Earlier, the WHO had declared the B-1617 strain spreading in India in the second wave of Corona in India as a global variant of concern. That is to say that this variant looks more contagious and can spread more easily.

According to Maria Van Kerkhov, President of the World Health Organization (WHO), Corona was found to be less affected by antibodies in a lab study conducted on a small sample size. But that doesn’t mean that this variant has more immunity than the vaccine.

The same strain
B.1.617 variant, also called double mutant, has been found to be more prevalent in Maharashtra and Delhi due to increased transmission in Maharashtra, Delhi . This is why the second wave of epidemics here has had a greater impact. B.1.617 variants have been found in more than half of the samples subjected to genome sequencing in several major cities of Maharashtra, one of the most affected states in the country.
