Corona patients have been found to be deficient in vitamin D. Three researchers from the Indian Institute of Public Health in Gandhinagar conducted a global review of three studies on vitamin D deficiency conducted by two countries in the world. The review has been published in the prestigious Oxford Journal. The review found that giving vitamin D supplements during corona treatment could prevent the patient from reaching the ICU and reduce mortality. This 30-day global review found other important tips to avoid corona in the third wave.

A research program on vitamin D deficiency in corona patients was started in Spain and Brazil for the period December 2019 to December 2020. Both countries obtained research results using three analysis methods. To review the research, the Gandhinagar IIPH Institute formed a team of three researchers, including the director of the institute, Dilip Mavalankar, Dr. Komal Shah and Dr. Deepak Saxena was included. 532 samples were observed to review three studies from two countries. Global Review has recommended to the government to change the line of treatment of Corona.

According to a study, 90 per cent people in the city suffer from vitamin D deficiency. In Ahmedabad, 39.9 per cent people are moderate and 46.4 per cent people are severely vitamin D deficient. 86.3% of people suffer from moderate to severe vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency has been found in 88 per cent of people in Vadodara and 30 to 90 per cent in different districts of the state. Although India is a dominant country for sunlight, people here do not have as much exposure to the sun as they should. This has led to a deficiency of vitamin D in people which is the subject of research.

The
IIPMA looked at three studies from two countries, taking 292 samples from Spain and 240 from Brazil. A total of 532 samples were analyzed. 189 were given vitamin D medication while 343 were not. Research from Spain and Brazil found that patients who were given medication due to vitamin D deficiency did not have to be admitted to the ICU.
