Gandhiji's granddaughter jailed:Ashish Lata sentenced to 7 years for cheating Rs 3 crore with businessman






Lata Ramgobin is the daughter of well known activist Ila Gandhi and the late Mewa Ramgobin.



Mahatma Gandhi's great-granddaughter Ashish Lata Ramgobin, 56, has been jailed for seven years in South Africa. A Durban court on Monday sentenced him to six million rupees (3.22 crore) in fraud. In this case, she has been out on bail since 2015.

The trial against

Claiming to import three containers of
linen from India , the company imports, manufactures and sells clothing, linen and slippers. Maharaj's company also provides finance on the basis of profit shares of other companies. Lata told Maharaj that he had imported three containers of linen from India for South African hospital group Netcare.




NPA spokesperson Natasha Kara said during the court hearing that the payment was made on the basis of a delivery note. There is a need.
Lata took Rs 62 lakh from Maharaj. Due to Lata Ramgobin’s family impression and evidence of Netcare, the Maharaja entered into a written agreement with him to take a loan. Lata also told Maharaj that the payment has been made with the help of Netcare challan and delivery note.
