India has the fastest vaccination in the world after China, but even if the speed continues, it will take a year and a half to get herd immunity with 75% vaccination.

Bhaskar Data Story:  India has the fastest vaccination in the world after China, but even if the speed continues, it will take a year and a half to get herd immunity with 75% vaccination.

About 29 lakh doses of corona vaccine are being administered daily in India and 24 crore doses have been given so far. All this is done to get herd immunity as soon as possible but even if vaccination stays the same it will take a year and a half for herd immunity to come to the country.

Corona is running the largest vaccination program in history around the world. According to Bloomberg Vaccine Tracker, 219 million doses have been given in 178 countries. About 3.54 crore people are being vaccinated every day in the world today.

China remains at the top with 1.89 vaccinations per day. He has administered 800 million doses to his people so far. India ranks second in this regard.

These figures are important, as they are the source of hope for herd immunity. India's top vaccine scientist Dr. Gagandeep Kang says that herd immunity means that as many people as possible get immunity against corona. Then the new number of infections will decrease. There are only two ways to get it - first, natural infection and second, vaccination. Heard immunity requires antibodies in 75% -80% of people. Through vaccination we are trying to achieve this target in the short term.

According to Bloomberg Vaccine Tracker, it will take 20 months for India to reach 75% vaccination at the current rate. The government's target is to reach this figure by December.

What is the status of the world at the present time?
Although China claims to have vaccinated around 800 million people, the international community does not trust its statistics. In fact, it does not share positive case statistics. Vaccination statistics are also updated under Oxford University's Project OverworldIndata. According to him, 219 crore doses have been given worldwide so far. After China, vaccination has gained momentum only in the US (300 million doses), India (240 million doses), Brazil (71 million doses) and the UK (68 million doses).
