What is the current status of vaccination in the country?
Currently, only two vaccines are being used on a large scale in the country. The covacin is made in the country, made by India Biotech, while the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine from Britain is being made by the Covishield Serum Institute in India.

Which foreign vaccine can come to India?
The Government of India said that vaccines included in the Emergency Use Listing listed by the US Regulator USFDA, EU Regulator EMA, UK Regulator UK MHRA, Japan Regulator PMDA and WHO will be given Emergency Use Approval in India.

At present, only Johnson & Johnson vaccines are approved in the United States, along with Moderna and Pfizer. Thus, in addition to these three, the AstraZeneca vaccine has been approved in the European Union. Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines are given in the UK. The only Pfizer vaccine in Japan. The WHO has so far approved only four vaccines - Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Synoform and Synovac.

These include Pfizer, Modern, Synoform, Synovac and Johnson & Johnson vaccines that we do not use there. This vaccine can get emergency approval in India. However, approval of the Chinese vaccine Synovac and Synoform may be hampered.

What is the status of vaccines that have already arrived in India?
Oxford-AstraZeneca is the first foreign vaccine to be approved in the country, being used in India under the name Covishield, with an Efficacy of 71%. The vaccine has been approved by the WHO, the UK Health Care Board, the European Medical Union and many other countries around the world. In many countries it is being sold under the name Covishield and in many places under the name Waxgevaria. The Pune-based Serum Institute of India in India is building it.

Russia's Sputnik-V is the second foreign vaccine to be approved in the country after Kovishield. Sputnik-V was approved by Russia for emergency use in August 2020. This is one of the world's first approved vaccines against corona. The vaccine was approved for emergency use in India in February this year.

The first batch of the vaccine reached India in the first week of May. Indian pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy's Lab is making it in the country. The first dose of the vaccine was administered on May 15 in Hyderabad. Dr. Reddy's senior officer Deepak Sapra took the first dose. The vaccine is expected to gain momentum by the third week of June. Like Covexin and Covishield, this is a two-dose vaccine. Both doses contain two different types of viral vectors.

Its effectiveness in clinical trials has been 91.6%, which is much better than the rest of other vector-based traditional vaccines. However this vaccine is more effective on weak strains of corona. Russia's single-dose vaccine Sputnik Light may also be approved in India soon. If that happens, it will be the first single dose vaccine to be used in India.

How long is it possible for other foreign vaccines to arrive in India?
Pfizer-Bioentech is the world's largest vaccine and one of the largest pharmaceutical companies. This mRNA based American vaccine may arrive in India soon. The company is in talks with the Government of India. It is hoped that the vaccine will reach India by July. Between July and October, 50 million doses of the vaccine could reach India.

The company has entered into an agreement with Biological E, a Hyderabad-based company. Like Sputnik Light, this is a single dose vaccine. J&J vaccine trials have proven to be 66% effective. The vaccine will be among the fastest available vaccines after the government's decision. Biological E has the potential to be 600 million doses a year. What is the problem with the Chinese vaccine?
