Vaccination completed 6 months in the country, at the current pace not every adult can be vaccinated by the end of the year

Bhaskar Data Story:

The coronavirus vaccine was introduced in the country on January 16. The vaccination campaign has completed 6 months today. So far, more than 39 crore vaccine doses have been given in the country. More than 31 million people have been given at least one dose of the vaccine, while about 80 million people have been fully vaccinated.

By December, the country's population over the age of 18 will be fully vaccinated. Such is the claim of NK Arora, head of the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration. However, for this they also have the condition to increase the speed of vaccine supply in the coming months.

If vaccination continues at the current pace, how long will we meet this target? In which states will the vaccination be completed first? Which state is currently lagging behind in terms of population? Will vaccination also have an effect on the third wave? What does worldwide data say about this? Let's understand ...

If vaccination continues at the current pace, by when will we meet this target?
July 15 marks 180 days since vaccinations began in the country. In the last 179 days, 31,35,29,502 people have been vaccinated with at least one dose of the vaccine, an average of more than 17.5 lakh people being vaccinated every day. It is about 23% of the current population. If this trend continues, it will take time till the beginning of March 2023 for every citizen of the country to get at least one dose of the vaccine.

About 33.5% of the country's adult population has been given a single dose of the vaccine. If this trend continues, the entire adult population of the country will need at least one dose of the vaccine by July 2022.

Although vaccination picked up speed in late June, it is now slowing down once again. In addition, the current rate of vaccination is higher than the average ever.

At present, 37.8 lakh doses are being administered daily on an average of seven days. If the vaccination rate remains the same, the country's adult population will need at least one dose of the vaccine for the next 165 days. This means that by the end of December, the entire adult population of the country will have been given at least one dose of the vaccine.

The question now is how long the country's adult population will be fully vaccinated if vaccinated at the current rate. So the answer is that it will take about 12 months, which means that by July 2022, India's adult population will have been completely vaccinated.

Now you would say that the government is talking about vaccinating the entire adult population by the end of the year. How will that be possible? The answer is that if 88.5 lakh doses are administered daily from today, by the end of December, about 94 crore adults in the country will be fully vaccinated.

Which state has the highest population vaccination so far?
So far, there are eight states and union territories where at least one dose of the vaccine has been given to 55% or more of the population. Sikkim and Ladakh are at the top. About 93% of the adult population at both sites have been given at least one dose of the vaccine.

In addition, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Tripura, Goa, Andaman-Nicobar and Himachal Pradesh have also given at least one dose to more than 55% of the adult population. Delhi will also be included in the list in the next one or two days.

Which states are still lagging behind in terms of population?
Uttar Pradesh is the largest state in the country in terms of population. So far 3.88 crore doses of vaccine have been given here, but Uttar Pradesh is the state with the lowest population covered in vaccination. So far only 22% of the population has been given at least one dose of the vaccine, while only 4% of the state's population has been fully vaccinated.

Apart from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar is the only state where less than 25% of the population has been vaccinated. Here about 23% of the population is given a single dose of the vaccine. While only 4% of the state’s population is fully vaccinated.

Will vaccination also affect the third wave?
There is constant talk of a third wave in the country. The risk of a third wave can be reduced if vaccination is done quickly. Figures from Europe and America indicate that.

In Britain, for example, cases have been on the rise for some time now due to the Delta variant. Even then, there is less need for hospitalization. More than 50% of the population has been vaccinated here. Thus the need to recruit people in ICU is also getting less and less.

While the number of deaths from corona has increased due to more vaccinations, the death rate here is much lower than before, so the faster we vaccinate, the lower the risk of a third wave.
