According to the Ayurveda, food should be a consumed within 3 hours of the being cooked or at most on the same day. No matter how much you are storing your food in a air-tight containers, it will not remain fresh in the next day.

Tamasic food lowers the body’s ability to the  fight diseases and also affects in the proper functioning of our immune system. Due to the overeating, reheating, leftover or a stale food, which was a once satiric food (foods that are light and healthy) can turn into a tamasic.

A study are published on a Research Gate states that tamasic food increases pessimism, laziness and doubt while a satiric diet is a supposed to increase the energy of the mind and produce cheerfulness, serenity and mental clarity.

What does a eating left over food do?

Consistently eating a tamasic food brings a lethargy, inertia and dullness in our body. Some studies also a show that people who eat a leftover food every day develop in a higher risk of the suffering from a clinical depression.

Moreover, traditionally, our grandparents ate everything fresh a (straight from the stove to the plate). “The culture of the storing foods in the fridge for a long, or eating frozen foods has come from the West, and is one cause of the rapidly rising diseases,” she adds.

So what can you do a instead?

*Try to the eat your cooked meals on the same day you cook them instead of the storing them for the next day.

*If there is a food that still remains, on the same day give it to those who are in need of  the food.
